I have been piecing together clues from March, Cyrene, and Evernight, and I think there is a strong chance Evernight is March merged with Cyrene.

The last time we see March as herself is with Cyrene in the Pathspace, and both of them are thought to be memetic entities in this scene. Memetic entities are constructed from memories, but since Cyrene originates from a simulated world, her memories are essentially digital data.

Its possible that Cyrene could have infected March with herself like a memetic virus. Memetic viruses spread through digital data, which is essentially what Cyrene is made of.

When March is in the Pathspace, she has two interactions that Cyrene implies were the Remembrance trying to manipulate her. These are with Fu Xuan and the Memo Keeper, who are aware that March cannot access her lost memories for her own protection, and with Dan Heng and the Trailblazer, who are intended to make her think her friends have already entered Amphoreus.

During both of these interactions, there is interference at the beginning. You can see it in these clips: https://youtu.be/de2jYpDH_VI?si=WNUxTxBJt5yJ_ogo. The interference appears as white noise or TV static, which usually occurs when a signal connection becomes weak. Since Cyrene originated as a signal in the cutscene, it is possible she was inserting herself into March’s perception using this signal.

Sunday also mentions in 3.0 that March seemed to be reacting to external stimulus (https://youtu.be/1F9Rx_su8Gk?si=5ZW9aRvhDArGgVtK 1:49). A signal is considered an external stimulus, which fits this theory. The interference also makes Fu Xuan, Dan Heng, and others appear similar to the memory fragments we see in Amphoreus - a clue that the culprit is from Amphoreus perhaps?

At surface level, Cyrene seems to be trying to stop March from entering Amphoreus. She tells March that turning back will allow her to leave the Pathspace, but she also says that the return journey could take ages, longer than most lives. This implies that turning back could risk March never seeing anyone again. With March believing both Dan Heng and the Trailblazer have entered Amphoreus, going through the gate ensures she will at least be able to be with them.

I also want to point out a subtle audio clue. In Evernight’s first scene, there is a chime-like sound when she enters: https://youtu.be/S8uzjUIABds?si=ZyQmwaU2xnhs7tb6 at 3:39.

This is very similar to the sound we hear when Cyrene winks: https://youtu.be/5NghFSc9UAM?si=5NAXgDNLt3Ga5yDn at 8:06.

The main thing that drew me into this theory was Evernight’s design, specifically her eyes. Many people say her different look is due to her regaining her lost memories, but when Dan Heng gained Dan Feng’s memories, and his eye shape stayed the same. This made me think there is more going on. Evernight’s eyes resemble Cyrene’s more than March’s. Her eye shape is closer to Cyrene’s, and the shadows and highlights within the iris are very similar when edited red. I have attached an image comparing March’s and Cyrene’s eyes to Evernight’s.

Finally, a lot of people interpreted the 3.6 livestream to mean Evernight is simply March with her past memories. However, the language used is speculative, such as “ACCORDING to Evernight” or “she COULD originate from March’s unknown past.” Nothing is actually stated as fact regarding Evernight and March.

Plus, I want to point out that even though we’re told “evernight only appears when march’s life is in grave danger. which means march 7th must have encountered serious trouble during her time adventuring alone” this doesn’t mean Evernight is truly a part of March, because if she was, where was she during this moment?: https://youtu.be/CnDEkHhMDJQ?si=8iSDy6-uO0hLxx35

Maybe, just maybe, March did end up in a situation that left her weakened, allowing Cyrene to fully take control, resulting in her now appearing as Evernight.

lastly, March does warn us that the first local we meet ends up having a big secret, for the TB and DH this was Mem, and for march this was Cyrene, meaning it’s definitely possible that this was foreshadowing that she’s hiding something. https://youtube.com/shorts/TN40ljbAnwg?si=w9EQVjOpYVcE53bz

Now, I don’t fully know what her motive would be, but I can’t help but shake the feeling it involves her weaving connections between herself, mem, oronyx and the other chrysos heirs, in order for her to become her 5* form in time for 3.7.

crackhead theory: Evernight is March 7th x Cyrene collaboration.
