This morning I was greeted with a hostile message in the groupchat that includes my roommate and our two suitmates. I have a semi-private dorm, sharing a bathroom with two other girls. I have had my friends over last night for a movie night, and one of them wanted to use our shared bathroom. Since they do not live in the same hall I do, my friend mistakenly opened the door that led to my suitmates room and not the toilet room. They did not know which door was which. I thought nothing of it when they told me, and I wasn’t there to see what happened in the bathroom, but there was no word of it.

The next morning, we all wake up. We chat and just relax talking about the movie, until I receive a message from the suitmates groupchat. I attached the message below.

Apparently they thought it was me who opened the door and they were very angry with me. I wondered why they were taking it so hard on me. Apparently they thought it was me who opened the door. I even went over and tried to explain myself to one of the girls, and she basically did not want to hear it from me, was very hostile and just mean. She then told me she called the RD.

I then text my roommate about it, who was at home at the time, and she told me that one of the girls told her that I was going in their room turning off the AC since they would always find it off. First off, I have never heard about that, they never brought that to my attention. Secondly, I have never even seen their room, neither have I opened their side of the door EVER. I also ALWAYS close and lock the door whenever I use the bathroom. I was just distraught because I already have a lot going on. My friends were actually over to comfort me and make sure I was ok, and this situation was just a cherry on top. Thankfully my friends were with me and told me to contact both the RA and RD, and advised me to go home for a little bit to destress.

I did get to talk to the RA about it, and she herself said that the suitmates reaction was not appropriate. I am thinking about switching rooms, because this is too much. I am not okay already and this is not making it any better for me. I am so grateful that my friends were with me. What are your thoughts?
