Can you track vocals using studio hardware then mix it yourself?
Title basically says it all. Right now I'm pretty happy with my mixing and mastering capabilities, I've got a long array of plugins and I've spent a substantial amount of time learning the craft to the point I can produce professional results. My only issue is hardware, I can't afford a super high quality microphone nor a lot of analog gear. I've never been to a recording studio before so I wanted to know if it's possible to go in, track vocals using analog gear (e.g an actual Neve 1073 preamp instead of the UAD Unison plugin), and then I leave with all the recorded stems and mix it myself? Basically I'd just be paying to get my vocals professionally tracked in a studio environment so I have the highest quality recordings to work with.
