Buying phone credit back in the day was a thing...we found away around it!

Back in the day, say 20/25 years ago, we all had credit phones in ireland. Myself and my best mate worked in a multinational. You used to be able to top up your phone by ringing a premium number, for say, £1 a minute, 50p would go to the service and 50p credit to your phone, once you gave them the phone number to top up.

Back then, you could unplug a phone and bring it to another phone port. My mate had access to a storage room, which had a phone port. We used to top up for hours and get like £50 credit, unheard of back then. We then decided to sell credit. You give us your phone number, you give us £10 and we would top you up by £20, the company never kopped the scam! Went on for nearly a year, with all our drinking weekends sorted. We would even cover nights out with the lads for some unbelievable weekends away. Great memories, still talk about it nowadays. ( company never found out, we just left)
