Question about AKG and advice on new headphones

Headphones - Open Back

I’m looking for advice on a new pair of headphones.

I’m buying a new pair because I have a pair of AKG k712s that I love, but they are only 2-3 years old and the solder joints keep breaking on them which I’m getting sick of resoldering. I also got another pair on warranty but out of the box they had a buzzing in one ear. Otherwise I just own a pair of k240s (had for 8+ years, no issue) and run them both through a FiiO K5.

So firstly, I’m wondering if other people have experience with AKG and think I’ve just gotten especially unlucky and I should consider another pair of AKGs, or if the quality of AKGs is something I should be concerned about. I'd be tempted to buy another k712 if the break again but hesitant after the issues I've had.

Secondly, if I should consider other options, I’m looking for open or semi-open headphone recommendations. I’m based in Australia, I mostly listen to punk, pop, hardcore, dance music (hyperpop, etc) and a bit of rock and indie. I don’t have much experience with headphones, the k240s and k712s are my main reference point. I do like the neutrality of the k240s but the k712s just sound so good, if I want to just “enjoy” the music I’m always grabbing them. So any recommendations are welcome, but I’ve been looking at a few that are a bit cheaper than the K712s at around ~AUD500, specifically the FiiO FT1 pro/FT3, Fostex t50rp mk4, and Austrian Audio HiX65. But could be convinced to consider something like FiiO FT5, Audio Technica 2000x or beyerdynamic DT 1990 if the jump in quality is that noticeable.

Any advice is welcomed, thanks 😊
