should I cut off my friend?
so I (19f) and my friend I'll call M (20) have been close for a few years at this point we knew each other in early highschool then reunited after we both left. I'm in the process of finishing my last semester of hs right now because I'm behind due to a chronic illness. M has made no effort to finish highschool at all due to claimed social anxiety and a learning disability (they are only diagnosed with ADHD and refuse to take meds). I tried to help them with it but they refused and have fully given up saying they'll find a job somewhere (they haven't and won't even finish art that they owe people)
anyway a few months back I was really struggling and needed to talk with someone, and M being my only friend I tried to talk to any they never properly replied only with short answers. this happened frequently, however every time they needed out of their fairly toxic home I came and helped, and chatted, and took them out. now come this week they haven't been replying properly to my messages, are totally sleep deprived, and have now totally told me to screw off because they can't handle social interaction at all besides their brand new partner.
I decided to respect M's wishes but it's really upset me because they made it feel like even replying to my few messages every couple days isn't worth it. I really don't have any other people my age I can connect with because of my illness and I'm hesitant to cut them off because they owe me art I already paid for.
I'm usually pretty independent and can make decisions like this on my own but I really don't know what to do here without any guidance from anyone else. feel free to ask for more context this situation is a bit complicated so writing it out was a bit hard.
