Has anyone else noticed a huge change in their taste in perfume?
Has anyone else ever experienced or noticed a huge change in your taste and preference for perfumes? When I was younger and started my fragrance obsession, I was all about the sweets and the gourmands. I pretty much exclusively liked gourmands for most of my twenties and was a self-proclaimed vanilla girlie up until just recently! Now I’m about 30 and the idea of smelling “edible” is so unappealing to me and a lot of the scents in my collection that I’ve had for a while feel so cloying when I wear them. I want to sell and declutter so many of the sweeter perfumes I have that used to be my favorites. Whenever I get a whiff of a vanilla scent on other women I am so enchanted and want to ask them what perfume they’re wearing, but anytime I try gourmands on my own skin I am turned off. I used to exclusively like gourmands and now my taste is changing to be drawn to freshies, skin scents, and light musky florals. I’m wondering if this is only due to age or if it could also be over-exposure to vanilla with all the popular releases that are coming out these days. It feels like every new release is a vanilla or “edible” so maybe my nose is just over it and tired of the same profile over and over. Additionally, I used to be drawn to beast performers that would project far and last forever, and now I’m drawn to skin scents with a smaller scent bubble that is more just for me. Has any one else experienced a shift like this?
