A thought I had
Having a craving is like having an itchy mosquito bite You crave to scratch the bite, because you want comfort But you know that scratching it (giving into the craving) will leave you unsatisfied And ultimately make the suffering worse So ignore the itch because it will pass, and you will suffer less in the long run because the craving is only temporary
I personally thought of this in the context of craving junk food, which I often do as an emotional comfort. And have struggled with battling these thoughts. But I suppose it applies to any kind of unhealthy craving.
