[Launch] Liquid Laboratories. The Most Overthought Car Care Brand You’ll Ever Use
Hello!
I wanted to post a little welcome post to help you understand the brand and what we’re about.
I didn’t start Liquid Laboratories because I wanted to “disrupt the industry” or “innovate the space.” I started it because, after 30 years in the lab, I was completely fed up with compromise.
I joined BASF in the late ’80s, back when the lab coats were still starched and the coffee was dreadful.
I worked in refinishing product development, mainly focused on car care. Over the years, I had a hand in creating formulas that now sit on the shelves of workshops, garages, and detailing bays across the country. Household names.
But the same thing always happened: the accountants got involved.
Suddenly, a product we’d spent months perfecting would get “revised.” Not because it didn’t work, but because someone figured out how to save 4p per litre.
And honestly? After a few decades of that, it wears you down.
I probably would’ve just kept moaning into my coffee… Until one day, my son said:
“If you know how to make it better, why don’t you just do it yourself?”
And the truth is… I didn’t have a good answer. So here we are.
What Liquid Laboratories is…
It’s the brand I always wanted to build. Made without shortcuts. Not the cheapest way. Not the fastest way. Just the right way.
It’s built around a single principle: Chemistry made clear.
No fluff. No gimmicks. No “ceramic magic.” Just precise, functional, high-performance detailing chemistry.
The Idea That Stuck
I asked myself:
What if car care felt more like a method than a mess?
What if every product had one clear purpose and every step built logically on the last?
That thinking became the foundation for Liquid Laboratories.
We built a five-phase system: 1. Wash – Safely remove loose dirt 2. Decontaminate – Get the bonded stuff out 3. Interior – Make the cabin feel like new 4. Correct – Fix imperfections properly 5. Protect – Lock in your results
It’s simple, structured, and scalable. Perfect for driveway enthusiasts and pros alike.
Why We’re Different
Most brands start with marketing and work backwards.
We started with the chemistry, because that’s the part you can’t fake.
We obsess over the details that most people overlook: • pH balance • Lubricity • Particle size • Flash time • Residue behaviour • How a product feels when you use it
We’ve rejected perfectly “fine” formulas because they didn’t perform right in the real world, on actual cars, on actual roads, in actual weather.
If it doesn’t feel right, it doesn’t go out.
Why Bother?
Because detailing is part pride, part therapy, and part art form.
It’s not just about how clean the car is, it’s about the process. And the tools you use matter.
So that’s what Liquid Laboratories is here for: To give you the right tools for the job, engineered properly, tested thoroughly, and never dumbed down for cost.

If you’ve got questions, I’m happy to answer anything. Whether it’s formulation, product development, or just what bucket I think is best, fire away!
