No, I would NOT like to hear about your first experience with psychedelics
I don’t know what I’ve done to deserve it, but yesterday was literally the fourth time this year alone that someone I barely talk to launched into an unsolicited excruciatingly detailed retelling of their psychedelic trip.
It’s always the same. I never ask. And when they begin I just politely nod and never have any follow up questions. Yet they still go like “let me tell you about my crazy trip”.
Which is fine if you keep it to a brief 2-3 minutes, but it’s always a monologue that includes every minute feature of the experience, framed as a very interesting story or a profound spiritual journey when in reality it’s just a verbose description of seeing colors change or temporarily forgetting what a spoon is
Please don’t go on for more than 10 minutes talking about your trip to anyone if they didn’t ask. I know it was mind blowing to you to experience it, but I promise you that you cannot capture that in words. It’s just as boring as telling someone every single detail of the dream that you had last night.
I don’t know what about me invites this urge to word-vomit. Maybe it’s not personal, maybe these people would tell anyone who’d pretend to listen, but all I can ever think whenever someone does that is why me?? why didn’t you pick any of the other 10 people here to tell about this? I even stopped pretending to listen, not even nodding or saying “uh-huh”, but it still happens.
