TL;DR: Play your lowest level heroes to grind Memories (daily resets to 60 per match, wait till next day when it gives 1-6), and only spend Zeni on upgrading your lowest level heroes. Don't waste Zeni on the shop; 300 Zeni for an entire Star Collection level (Hero Lv0 -> Lv1) >>>> 100 Zeni for 50 Memories.

I'm seeing a lot of players fall for the same scam that bricked a lot of accounts' progress during the Beta, so I'm going to repeat the same advice I gave during that time: DONT WASTE YOUR ZENI!

Currently it's a LOT easier to consistently gain Hero Memories by just playing the game compared to Zeni. You can only get Zeni by getting lucky in the Daily Shop and completing LIMITED quests (Battle Pass and Hero checkmarks(I believe?)). There's no consistent way to grind a large amount of Zeni, meaning you can easily run out of it way easier than Hero Memories. So wasting Zeni on anything other than leveling up the lowest level characters you own. As you level heroes they cost more and more Zeni to level up, so every Zeni counts if you're aiming to get your Star Collection level up higher (aka how you get more free heroes).

Wasting Zeni on the daily shop Memories when you can just.. play the game to get them instead is going to hurt you in the long run IF you plan to get as many heroes as possible. IF you just want to unlock one hero really quickly then sure do whatever you want with your Zeni tbh - it's your game you have fun the way you want! Just wanted to warn players that might be trying to get as far into the Star Collection as they can without spending money.

If there's an easier way to get Zeni this time around compared to the Beta tho then ignore this oops, but I haven't run into any non-limited / quest-related ways to get Zeni outside of the RNG daily shop. Also obviously you can get more Zeni every time a new Battle Pass comes around, but you still slow your progress heavily if you waste it on stuff you just get by playing daily.
