AITA For Ignoring My Family
So I (34 male) used to be a heroin addict and have been clean for close to 10 years but I've only been clean those 10 years because of a drug called Suboxone.
Usually for these types of medications you take it for maybe a couple weeks to a month to get off of a narcotic that you are on and then they wean you off the Suboxone.
Anyway I started taking it because quitting on my own was impossible and I relapsed after getting out of rehab so I did this and for this whole time (8 years) it's worked great.
However my family (all of them) are saying that's I'm spending too much money (130-USD bucks a week) and that it has changed my personality and mood that I cause issues with my parents that I'm letting myself go because I haven't shaved my hair or beard etc.
But I believe it helps me and I always dismiss what they are saying but I wanted more of an opinion from a wider audience am I the asshole for ignoring my family when they talk about my medication?
Or am I in the right for sticking to my guns and staying on the meds that are essentially allowing me to live a life?
Thanks for any advice also I broke apart the story like I did for ease of reading as English isn't my first language and I'm still learning. Also if this doesn't meet the criteria of the sub please let me know and delete and I'll do better going forward
