Why this sickening obsession with women around here.

I just came across a post here and it was deleted surely because of the nature it carried. The user simply asked about the reason behind this maddening obsession with women and why it those posts always receive a huge engagement. So, I wanted to reasonably and modestly answer:

So first of all, I do not think this phenomenon is unique to Algeria but I get where people are coming from. It is amplified here I guess. So here is the thing, Algeria, needles to say, is a conservative country. Its rules are rooted in religion. Religion emphasizes honor and family traditions. This automatically leads to the scrutiny of women. But it goes farther I believe. It is also due to the patriarchal structure and how it mythically views women as a symbol of family or honour. You would figure how these labels are deeply ingrained in this community. You asked why these topics get much engagement. It is very simple. Take it this way, individual freedom against community norms. I actually happened to come across a post criticizing women who ride a bike. It just keeps getting sillier and sillier.
