“Let your baby get sick”

Babies Being Babies

So I just got scolded by a grandma as we were talking about my son. My kiddo is officially on the move and the chase of trying to create as cleanly as a space as I can has begun. I shared how I try to keep up with vacuuming and mopping as much as I can since I have a German shepherd who sheds ALL the time.

Anyway, caught my baby licking the floor and I said how it sometimes causes me stress because I cannot control the hair and dirt that can get tracked into the home. I shared that outdoor shoes are banned (always have been) to limit the outdoor germs as much as I can. This lady proceeded to raise her voice at me and roll her eyes while stating “oh my gosh, let your baby get sick!” Obviously, I can’t control every germ he encounters and that he will one day, eventually, get sick but is it so horrible to try and control exposure as much as I can?

To add, I’m not running after him with a disinfectant wipe all day but this lady made me feel like I’m wrong for doing what I thought was reasonable.

I just needed to vent
