Tips on backwards man?

i recently started playing skate 3 and shred the campaign, now i want to learn backwards man to do a couple of tricks, it's been hard to hit those, and the couple of times i hit, the skate can't go straight, and just fly to the right/ left. I play on goofy and straight posture, and i am trying this at the road on the observatory. How do i fix this?
