Downtown dining recommendations

Friend of mine is travelling to Nashville November 1 for 4 nights, and is looking for recommendations near downtown for 'typical' Nashville food. She's travelling alone, so a comfortable single dining environment, and a view of the kitchen is a bonus (not sure if that's a thing, but that's what she's asking for...).
