overthinking my boyfriends actions?
So I know that all of this will sound "well OP clearly isn't ready for a relationship then!" or "maybe you should break up if you can't trust-" blah blah blah. I know okay? I know what this will sound like I just need to have someone to tell me it'll be okay and my thoughts are one in a million possibilities.
I (20f) trust my (18 going on 19 in Nov)Bf, but I can't help but think that my overthinking thoughts could be true. (We are long distance, yes only by 2 hours, and yes I could go see him anytime but I'm scared of highways/freeways and he doesn't have his license yet.) As of last night after a pretty nasty incident (I relapsed) my bf and I texted till I went to bed, and he told me last night that he might not be texting me that much today since he'll be hanging out with his friend and No I don't expect him to text me every hour but I texted him this morning at 9 and he was active but he didn't say anything.
So I thought "okay that's fine he's with his friend, no biggy" after about 2 hours I see on his snap maps he's at this motel and again my overthinking immediately jumps to "he's cheating on me" but I try to be rational and say "no no, he said he's hanging out with his friend I trust that's what he's doing" but a small part of me believes that maybe he could be...after all I checked 3 hours later he was still at the motel and still not active. Now I'm trying to trust him with my heart but we've only been dating for 4 weeks and 3 days (yes I know that's it's really soon to be dating someone online especially if you don't know them that well...I know...I know that already. Save your judgmental words, it's probably something I haven't already said to myself anyway).
I do trust him but..I trust him as much as I trust a stray dog (no offense). Could the "dog" be incredibly friendly? Yes, but could it also bite me? Also yes. Is it gonna bite me? I don't think so I hope not but do I trust it enough to say with my whole chest that I trust it not to?...no..I have pretty broken trust since I've been bitten by "strays" and even "dogs" I thought I could trust or even "dogs" I did trust, so will I trust this "stray dog" not to bite me? Only enough to say "hopefully not."
So maybe I'm overwhelmed and overthinking it but I do trust him not to cheat but I can't promise and tell myself that he won't. And maybe the slight lack of trust makes me a shitty gf or maybe it makes me someone who shouldn't be in a relationship until I trust someone and get to know someone fully...idc I do actually care about him and I do trust him..maybe not fully but enough and yes it might be too early but I will say it, I really do love him.
I'll take whatever advice, critiques, judgment, passive-aggressive comments, or even criticism you have for me Reddit...I just had to get this off my chest. Thanks for listening to me ramble, I'm going to bed ♡
