Which movement should I learn for my first piano concerto (for a competition)?
There is a competition I want to sign up for where you have to perform one movement of any piano concerto (time max. is 10 minutes). They recommend straying away from twentieth century composers like Bartok and Prokofiev because if you make it as a finalist, the music may be too difficult for the accompanying orchestra.
Other than that, there aren't any limitations. This will be my first time learning any movement of a piano concerto, does anyone have any recommendations? I am CM level 9 and I'm currently learning Fantaisie Impromptu and Gerswhin's 3 Preludes, if that helps gauge my playing level. I do prefer romantic composers (sorry Mozart and Haydn)
Thank you!
