How do you not build walls after being ghosted?
I met someone online a few months ago, and it started on a physical level, sending pictures, videos, and sexting. Then, after about a month I realized that wasn’t fulfilling and kindly stepped back, with a brief conversation and honest explanation instead of ghosting. The lustful side was fun, but I need a real connection beyond that.
A couple months pass (2 weeks ago). I still think of her and pray for her, and she ends up reaching back out on a different site saying she can’t help but miss me. We reconnect and it’s different. We start opening up and sharing about ourselves. Voice memos, pictures, heartfelt expressions. It feels different. She says “I don’t want to lose you again” and we make promises to be honest if we’re uncertain.
Then… I’m ghosted out of nowhere. I feel betrayed because of the promises. Today I finally sent a message because I still feel, even when hurt, I should stay true to my promise:
“Hey, I wouldn’t feel right leaving this unspoken since I promised honesty. The silence has been hard, but I can understand. I’m grateful for the time we shared and the beauty you showed me. Take care of yourself.”
And I feel that void again. Trying not to feel betrayed, or maybe just trying to accept it. But I don’t know how to not close off for future relationships. I want to be fully emotionally available for the right woman, but now there’s this fear that it’d just get swept out from under me again.
