popmart is evil

so, I’ve been thinking this for a bit and seeing people talk about it A LOT, so I know it’s an overdone topic but popmart has actually become evil.

it’s not one thing and that’s the craziest thing and with the new sp drop I’ve seen the biggest change (almost MORE than pin for love) it’s like popmart genuinely does not care about the collectors and the communities have suffered because of it…

when I got my first labubu I was so happy just to have one and it wasn’t because of the scarcity mindset — it was because it meant something. my first was hehe and I’ll never forget that feeling as I ordered their clothes, dressed them up, and introduced all my friends to my littlest friend. I’m not saying those moments don’t exist anymore but it’s almost like popmart ENJOYS making the secret nigh unattainable, the best looking, and flooding us with dupes. collecting isn’t about the collection any more, it’s about the freaking secret. or the only one people like, but that one is the only one of the set that EVERYONE likes. then, we have where we are now, and I say we because I am staring at a mountain of dupes and I haven’t dressed ANY of my bie labubus because I sort of resent them now and that really sucks.

I decided to buy some of the new sp release which was my first break in a while and I left it feeling disgusted with myself. ones that I really wanted I felt such disappointment when I got them for the second time BECAUSE I knew it was absolutely wasted money, wasted plastic, wasted packaging, wasted everything really, etc, since everyone was already saying they didn’t like that one or the other and I was going to lose money regardless. and I just couldn’t stop. I’m at the point where I want to just throw away ALL of my dupes because it is so much stress and TIME and energy to get rid of them!!

popmart is the reason why people charge outrageous “reseller” prices because I even saw myself doing it… I used to sell at a few dollars over retail AND include shipping in that but as some sat forever and all the “popular” ones got snatched up I just couldn’t anymore — if I didn’t charge more for the “popular” ones then I was 100% losing money in the aggregate. then, I started avoiding certain hints if I was secret hunting because I hated having all of these dupes and that’s when I began to hate popmart. the price increases (it’s not the tariffs atp and we know it). the quality drop. the false scarcity. the gambling. the withholding of hints for less popular ones. (I saw this a lot more now with no boxes except maybe ONE having “NOT least popular pick”) the hatred for their customers (because yeah that’s what it is).

overall: I’m in law school, I have a degree in finance (business), and I’m pretty smart I think, but they got me and I bet they’ve GOTTEN all of us in some way. so, honestly? done with secrets, done with popmart, and I’m focusing on the kids (labubus) I got and getting rid of my dupes as fast as possible and never playing this stupid game again 😭

I just want to dress my labubus and enjoy them — I don’t want to hate what I used to love ☹️
