2023 Dual Sport 2 gen 5 or 2023 FX2
So a shop in the city has both of them at a discount. 525 US dollars or 44,000 rupees. I am upgrading from a 10 year old local brand aluminum hybrid with had shitty front shocks and a crappy tourney system but coming from a steel bike, it was pretty light weight and smooth when it worked.
I did a test ride of Dual Sport 2 and a 700c cycle but with steel forks (Avanti Giro FM1, they didn't have Fx2 for testing). They small road for testing outside the shop was cobbled.
I am not sure if they overinflated the tire or not but the 700c was very bumpy, much more than I expected. But the Ds2 was much smoother and I really liked how it looked. It looks so smooth and futuristic with the internal cabling. The hydraulic brakes felt better to use too but I didn't feel like it had a massive advantage over the other one.
I went to the shop without much research so told them I would come back again. I am conflicted about which one to get now. Apparently Ds2 has shitty brakes but Fx2 has slightly better ones (Some people say it depends on luck, you could get crappy ones with it too)
And it also seems the internal cabling on Fx2 is easier to repair while others reckon it won't need much adjustment anyway.
I am super confused now. The shop is like an hour away and I have to be in that city for something else.
I am a casual rider and does sub 20 mile rides. I am planning to ride more for fitness, but the road here can be a bit bumpy and full of small potholes.
Ds2 seems perfect to be on paper but reading all that things about brakes and routing is making me reconsider that. I am going to an another shop tomorrow to see if they have Fx2 for rest ride. What do you guys think? Which one should I get at the same price?
