FWI: A Russian military deserter attempts to defect to Sweden
Sometime in the next couple months, Sweden announces that it has apprehended a Russian national. A leaked audio recording of an interrogation between the Russian and Swedish law enforcement reveals the following information:
- The Russian is a former drone operator turned military deserter.
- The Russian claims he intended to defect and seek asylum in Sweden because he grew disgusted with Putin's alliance with North Korea, in addition to Putin's stubborn mentality that led to him justifying (in his mind) "the needless deaths of millions of people on both sides."
How would the Swedish government take this guy's story, realistically speaking? Would they call BS on his story and incarcerate him and/or deport him back to Russia? Or would they believe him?
What sort of evidence can you see this guy carrying on himself that would increase his chances of Sweden believing his story and agreeing to take him in?
