Lunar Magic and LMS - Is lunars not playable?

Hello! Trying to learn LMS more but im being increasingly turned away from it. It seems that the only way to actually play is freeze and stand under, or if you play lunars, stand out of range and magic the whole time.

Im just wondering why lunars is a selectable option if it cant compete with ancients? Is there something im missing?

Players will just stand out of range and barrage me and I'm unsure how to combat it.

I'd love any guidance or tech, really just trying to learn more pvp goodness!
