Help me find this mystery fragrance
As a child I used to go to a doctors office in Munich, Germany where one of the admin person wore the most intriguing scent. I have been since looking for this fragrance; occasionally when I travel I catch this fragrance in the air but unfortunately I can’t locate the source; otherwise I would ask them. After some digging I have narrowed down the list of possible “culprits” and have been trying to sample them when opportunity arises.
If I could describe the scent it’s very structured and aloof; in some ways some Hermes fragrances. Possibly heavy base on patchouli like some Prada fragrances. It’s structured, almost medicinal, sour and crisp. No stuffy powder or florals; or at least the way it’s blended it does not come across as floral. The closest fragrances reflecting this aloof “peekaboo” effect is Coriandre by Jean Patou and Agent Provocateur. There are some traces in the dry down of Dior Originale. Even though these have a more baroque and floral scent, they are similar in sourness and structure.
Some of the scents suggested to me and I have tried and weren’t a match. Givenchy III, Niki Saint Phalle, Paloma, aromatics elixir, Silences by Jacomo. All of these fragrances seem too stuffy, makeup powdery and hazy. This mystery scent is lot more forward, sharp, linear, crisp like a clean shirt, but my guess it’s still in the cyphre category.
A few to still sample that was suggested to me:
Chanel 19, Scherrer, Sisley eau de soir, YSL Y (Vintage).
Any thoughts? I would appreciate any suggestions and would love to find this fragrance.
