Excluding Sabbath, what's your favorite doom metal band ever? And what's your favorite album by them? Try to think of one.

I have to go with Cathedral. While only three of their albums are strictly traditional doom (Forest of Equilibrium, Endtyme, and The Last Spire), they retain the crushing, slow, massive riffs throughout their entire discography. Not to mention, they were consistent as hell, while also moving into more groovy directions.

My favorite of them has to be the Ethereal Mirror. Just a perfect combination of doom and their more groovy side.
