AITA for making my bf upset for saying "if you don't want my reaction to it then don't tell me"

I (20) F has been with my partner for almost 3 years (23) M and we always have an argument about how I response whenever we had our arguments. I always shut down and stay silent for a long while while he wants us to talk about it when I've told him many times before on how I can't control it since I've been raised in a house hold that when someone is mad (specially my grandmother) everyone stayed silent and nobody says a word until they've calmed down. It's like walking on eggshells everyday and so that's how I response when it comes to people getting mad or angry, I stayed quiet.

And so we had another argument about it and I've tried to speak when that happens it's just sometimes I really can't.

So earlier when I got back home we we're talking about how his mom got mad at him for not doing a certain chore. And how he told her that she didn't have to yell at him nor be mad at him in order to do the chore and so they argued for a while and he told me that his mom has been humiliating him with his entire family about not having a job, and that pissed him off.Aand I told him I'll give him half of my allowance in order to get hisppapers for him to get a stable job.

He told me that he didn't need it and that he'll just asked his mom for money. And it's my fault for reacting a bit disappointed because it's been 2 years since he promised he'll get a job. ( he did get a temporary job which pays low for like 4 months) but I didn't say anything and just signed too loud I guess and when he asked me what's wrong I told him I didn't want to make another drama between us so I'm not gonna tell him. And he just stayed silent for a bit before saying that he wanted to tell me something but he's afraid to tell me because of how I'll react, and to promise him I won't get mad. And I told him if he promise me that he'll accept my reaction to it then don't tell me otherwise we'll hurt each other's feelings anyways. And then he got upset.

I think I'm at fault but I need some advice form you guys.
