Elden Ring Nightreign can't use controller

Hello, I just downloaded ER Nightreign from fitgirl to play with two other friends that got the same version. With that version we can't play using controller though, only MK, is there a fix for it? A patch or something? In the comments from the game page in fitgirl's website there was a tutorial but it didn't work because it said we should change the options in the spacewar steam page, but I can't access that for some reason.
