Should we keep waiting for the “rental season” to die down or just settle for somewhere else?

Advice/Question

Been looking for something in the city or North Brooklyn for under $2500. Once upon a time that used to be a viable option. Now, I really don’t know. In Spring there were a lot of studios on the Upper East Side and Upper West Side in this range, now there’s absolutely nothing. If there is something, there’s like 100 other people interested. Is it the rental season or is this just the new normal? Should I keep waiting it out or just settle for a decent place in another borough like Queens? I can’t keep subletting forever or waiting around forever. If it’s just unrealistic for a studio like this to ever come about again, then I’d like to know so I can give up.
