Should I reach out again or move on? Stuck between hope and fear (21F, 25M)
Title: Struggling with lingering feelings after breakup (21F, 25M, 2.5 years together) r/b
Hello Reddit. I need advice. I’m 21F and I broke up with my 25M boyfriend in February after being together for 2.5 years. He was the closest person to me, and I felt completely comfortable with him in every way, even physically. The breakup was very painful, but we continued living together for another 3 months and even shared the same bed.
I’m now in therapy and on medication. I was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder, severe depression, and OCD. All of this came out after the breakup, when I finally faced everything I had been suppressing for years. Basically, we broke up because he lost feelings for me after I went through a depressive episode that lasted 5–6 months.
My feelings haven’t faded, no matter how much I try. About a month ago, I texted him after a long silence, expecting him not to answer or to be cold. Instead, he was friendly and asked how I was. Since then, we’ve texted sometimes and even played an online game together. I once suggested meeting for a walk, but he said it wasn’t a good idea since it would “drag up the past.” Still, our conversations have been pleasant — we'd text each other, sometimes wish good night, and talk about random things like how our evenings went (especially with the situation in the country).
Now I feel stuck: part of me wants to reach out and ask if there’s any chance to try again, but I’m scared it would only hurt me more. At the same time, I don’t know if keeping this friendly contact helps me heal or just keeps me from moving on.
so, should I text him about trying this again?
