How do I store cheese in a fridge to ensure it doesn’t mold?
I just moved into a new apartment that came with one of those old school GE standard white fridges. It has two climate control containers on the bottom, but I had this stored on a shelf.
This was a brand new, still-sealed pack of cheese I bought from Walmart last week. The expiration date isn't until January 2026. I tore it open today, and it's already molded. It looked like white specs, almost like freezer burn (And yes, it was definitely mold, not freezer burn)
Did it mold because I stored it incorrectly?
Or could it have been a packaging error? It was from Walmart, so it wouldn't surprise me.
If anyone has any knowledge on this, l'd really appreciate it!
I just don't want to keep wasting food if it's something I'm not doing right. Thanks so much!
