training with AAC

Hi! First time with an ABA classroom at my school and second year in the schools. I have some basic knowledge of AAC, and totally plan to do a bunch of courses in my spare time, but can someone give me a crash course on introducing AAC. Right now my students are fairly new to AAC and not really initiating or navigating at all by themselves. I’ve been doing a lot of modeling/ hand-over-hand to get them to interact after the model and then fading that cue as the session progresses and they start doing it independently. I’m seeing progress over 1-2 sessions with this and the “I want x.” Is this right? Any other suggestions! I appreciate you!!
