How seriously do I take HR?
Like many places, my workplace was fully virtual for years after Covid. We eventually had to come back, but we were allowed to just come into the office two days a week. Last summer we were told we had to come in 4 days a week. We had many questions, and HR published a FAQ to answer many of them. (For context, most of us take every other Friday off because we work a longer work day) Two of the FAQs were: 1) could we take our work from home day the same week as a holiday, and 2) could we take our wfh day and our Friday off the same week. HR’s answer to both of these was yes.
Fast forward to now, and HR is telling managers that we are to come in 4 days no matter what. They are starting to send the managers unit-level badge data to show how many days each unit is averaging. They have not updated the FAQs or released any new official guidance.
My question is, I’ve been loath to give up my wfh home day until HR actually changes its guidance. I feel that we have some recourse if HR starts to pull individual badge data. But, the managers are definitely getting pressured from HR to make sure the unit keeps their days up.
I’m mainly asking for the weeks I get a Friday off - do I keep my wfh day that week until HR changes its tune officially, or do I fall in line? I know if I give it up and start showing up, I can never go back. 😭
