She plays 2 songs on the cello in season 2.

The first in episode 1 is obvious and has been discussed before:

“Dance of the Knights” (also known as “Montagues and Capulets”)
- Score from Romeo & Juliet
- Well known story of tragedy and forbidden love - strong parallels to Wednesday and Tyler’s relationship: in episode 5 Wednesday says to Tyler “we both know theres only only way we could ever truely be together” - suggesting that even if in that moment she was just manipulating him, she knows herself love between them would be impossible given Tyler’s Hyde side has been programmed to kill her.
- Feuding families: one of the central themes of Romeo and Juliet. Wednesday plays Dance of the Knights right after the talks to Galpin and she’s reminded of Tyler. Galpin never wanted them to be together. Also we later learn how closely their families were intertwined: Issac attempted to kill Gomez in order to save Fran, but ultimately Morticia kills Issac to save Gomez…their families being rivals and literally killing one another adds to the element of the Montagues and Capulets (in this case the Addams and the Nights (I also don’t think this last name is a coincidence).

Fast forward to episode 6 and Wednesday (in Enid’s body” plays “Don’t Fear the Reaper”
- This song is well known to have been inspired by the themes of Romeo & Juliet and directly mentions them in the lyrics.

I consulted ChatGBT about the connections to this song in Wednesday, and this was what it spat out:

“1. Love and Death (Romeo & Juliet Parallel)
	•	The song famously references Romeo and Juliet as lovers united in death.
	•	Tyler and Wednesday’s relationship carries that same star-crossed energy: a romance laced with danger, betrayal, and the possibility of destruction.
	•	Tyler’s Hyde nature makes him both a potential soulmate and a lethal threat. The song’s message that love continues past death mirrors how Wednesday can’t easily sever her connection to him, even after betrayal.

⸻

2. Tyler as the Reaper’s Shadow
	•	Tyler’s Hyde form literally brings death.
	•	When “Don’t Fear the Reaper” plays in the series, it highlights themes of identity and mortality—things Tyler embodies. He is the hidden danger that Wednesday is drawn to, the monster lurking beneath a charming exterior.
	•	For Wednesday, not fearing the Reaper means not fearing Tyler—even when she knows what he is.

⸻

3. Foreshadowing His Role in Season 2
	•	The cello cover of the song plays during the body-swap scene, which is all about dual identities and masks.
	•	This parallels Tyler’s own double life: the sweet, wounded barista vs. the Hyde.
	•	Just as Enid is inside Wednesday’s body (a false face on the outside), Tyler too in season 1 hides behind an exterior of normalcy while something monstrous lives inside.

⸻

4. Wednesday’s Choice With Tyler
	•	The song suggests that to love is to risk death—but that it’s worth it.
	•	Wednesday’s fascination with Tyler, despite the danger, reflects the song’s central message: she doesn’t fear the destruction he represents.
	•	The haunting question is whether Tyler will be her Romeo (tragic, doomed love) or her Reaper (the one who destroys).”

Truely fascinating. There is so much foreshadowing it has to be intentional surely?
