The lust of the flesh
1John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. [16] For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. [17] And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
Greetings beloved, i want us today to dig deeper about the issue of lust of the flesh, and also the lust of the eyes which leads one to one having pride about his or her life, meaning a sense of archievement, because of certain breakthroughs, acts, that one has now able to aquire, which others maybe failing to do.
To find out more lets us go back to the beginning Genesis 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat, so this is were it all started, when Eve looking at the tree of the knowldge of good and evil.
(1)She saw that the tree was good for food, which is the lust of the flesh, to the law
(2) and it was pleasant to the eyes, the lust of the eyes to the law.
(3)a tree to be desired to make one wise, meaning the pride of life because of observing law more than others.
The clear picture was later comes out here, listen very well to the prayer of this Pharisee, Luke 18:10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. [11] The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. [12] I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess, and you all know the whole story.
Beloved, i m here today to just let us always examine ourselves that, "yes" we may not be lusting after women anymore or other peoples properties, but what about the law?.
What makes us sometimes to feel better than others in the issues of Religion?, is it the love of Christ as a measure?, as we all know by Him, He has made us one even by Himself, or of the law?,
We thank God for Christ who through His divine nature, has rescued us we from this corruption which is in the world through the lust of the flesh as it is written 2 Peter 1:4 whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
Thank you
