I had to friend breakup with someone and they took it kinda hard...need help figuring out if I'm an idiot or not.
I just didn't vibe with this person despite trying for over a year, we talked about stuff but it never really got past like. Surface shit you'd talk with coworkers about. Reccomending movies n tv shows to each other over and over again, talking about food I wish I could cook again and her getting tips from me while she cooked.
I respected her too much as a person to just ghost or block, so I told her. "I dont wanna keep leading you on cause you keep inviting me over to do this stuff and I feel terrible about you wasting all this time, effort and actual money (because she was offering go give me the money needed to drive to her place 3 hours away) when I genuinely do not like you as a friend."
She's fantastic, a lovely person, and I could not be the kind of friend she needed me to be. I thought it would hurt her less to tell her as such.
Is this a 'am I over rationalizing emotions again' or is this common among INTJ's? If someone I was trying to be friends with said, plain out "I dont feel like we make good friends", I'd appreciate it...
