Disturbing the peace charge

Location: Nebraska

I plead a no contest to disturbing the peace. I have never had a criminal record and always done things the right way. I had a stupid argument and was ticketed for disturbing the peace. I repeatedly asked my lawyer if there was anything I could do to get rid of this cos of my position at my job. He said it was so minimal and that to just plead no contest.

Today I was talking to a friend about it and he mentioned diversion. He said I should have asked for diversion and after 6 months it would have been dropped. Now I am livid. Why didn’t my lawyer mention this? What can I do now?
