Ironman Cairns advice on logistics

Hi All - planning to do Cairns as my first full IM. Seeking advice for those who have done it.

It appears most people stay at Cairns and use the bus transport to the start line but judging from my own 70.3 experience the morning is stressful and I was thinking of staying near the swim start at palm cove so I don't need to get a bus super early. I'm also traveling with family so it would be easier to go to the start together.

Does anyone do this (stay at Palm Cove /T1) and if so how do you get your bike back after the race? Looking at the last AIG it says the bike needs to be removed the same evening.

Is it possible to leave a car overnight (left the night before) somewhere near the finish line area and drive back to palm cove? Thanks!
