is anyone here a weight lifter/bodybuilder?

Requesting Advice

TLDR; weightlifter back in gym after recovering from injury but have also experienced sciatica symptoms. Symptoms started prior to getting back in the gym - it was actually recommended to do low impact training to restore my strength and take pressure off my spine. I’m keeping my workouts low weight and low impact. Any gym-goers here have a similar experience?

I’m 25. I’ve been back in the gym with heavily altered exercises. but don’t worry y’all. I’m prioritizing core/pelvic floor strength in my routine, including a new regimen of yoga that i neglected to do in the past, and I don’t engage in any compound exercises or anything else that can compress the lumbar spine and cause further damage. I’ve followed through on my physical therapy, even when at home (i miss physical activity so much), I always make sure to listen to my body and walk out of the gym feeling good & have been educating myself on the body’s anatomy so I can do right by it.

So far it’s been doing wonders re-engaging my muscles (had to take some time off recovering from an injury - which is really well healed now and I’m happy about that but damn you sciatica) and it’s been putting less strain on my bones, joints, spinal column. I have no doubt that the initial injury precipitated the sciatica symptoms.

I was mainly just wondering about people’s experiences with this specific ailment in conjunction with their history of bodybuilding and what they found successful / unsuccessful. I am aware this is a condition that doesn’t often go away fully, but I know of instances in which recovery could go well and also go poorly.
