Unpopular opinion, the defense sold, and our wide receivers struggled to get open (WARNING WALL OF TEXT AHEAD, READ IF YOU DARE)

Allar definitely deserves some of the blame for what happened with how awful he was in the first half

But when the chips were down and they needed him to make the big plays to get his team where they needed to be

He came through and made some pretty big plays like that beautifully placed touchdown pass he threw for our first touchdown or the QB scrambles he had where he picked up critical first downs on 3rd and 8

He brought us back from the brink and gave us the lead in overtime

I saw the winning nature that I know is in there like we saw when he mounted the epic comeback against USC

The pick is his fault

Don’t mind the aggressiveness after picking off the two point conversion

Work with your positive momentum

But you can’t try to be a hero and force something that isn’t there

You can’t do what you want to do, you gotta do what you need to do

If nobody was really open he should have just taken off

But on the list of reasons why they lost in my opinion

Allar is very low on the list in terms of the blame game

The passing game was night and day for Oregon and Penn State

For Oregon, their receivers were running free all day long and it seemed to me like we were imploring the same “Bend don’t break” bullshit defensive scheme that cost us the Big Ten Championship game last year where we only Rush 4 and drop 6 with one playing Spy because we are too scared of the QB taking off

Dante had wide open receivers galore on so many fucking plays it was fucking maddening

Where as with Penn State, Allar was not given the same luxury and most of the time our receivers were very tightly covered apart from that touchdown pass he beautifully dimed

Allar had wide open receivers sometimes and he missed them by throwing it behind them

But things would have gone a lot differently if he had Oregons receivers running free

I mean what the fuck man

You’re dropping 6 or 7 and yet their receivers more than half the time were wide open

That final score does not even reflect how badly our defense played either with the “bend don’t break” approach

Our defense was getting carved up all day long, even in the first half

The only reason why Oregon didn’t have more points is because they kept fucking up and stalling when they got near mid field

Oregon didn’t just have their way with us throwing the ball

They had their way with us running the ball as well

I have personally never seen such a piss poor run defense by this team since we played at Michigan in 2022 with a Michigan offense who was picking up 5 yards a carry who knew practically every single one of our plays that we ran on defense and offense

Oregon bullied us on the line of scrimmage from the get go and their O line totally abused our defensive front

And it only got worse the more tired our defense got as the game progressed

We also had some really nice horseshit blatant no holding calls and a fumble recovery that got overturned because of a fucking angle where his knee touched the grass that I still have never seen

I thought to overturn a call you needed indisputable evidence

Guess not on that play

It took them a minute but eventually I saw our offense adjust and start making the plays they needed in the 2nd half

I never ever saw those adjustments on defense

It was “bend don’t break” in the first half, and it was “bend don’t break” in the second half

Then it gets to overtime after a phenomenal comeback by Allar and the offense like they did in the USC game last year

And we are in a position to win the fucking game if you can just hold them

Couldn’t do it because of the same D line problems we had earlier in the game that were now amplified due to them being exhausted

The defense sold

Allar deserves some of the blame, but I blame our defense more than our offense as weird as that may sound

481 dollars down the drain

Very upsetting

I really thought we had that when we scored in OT
