Do you buy your mates gifts?
Im in my 30s, with a range of friends both male/female.
Im unmarried/single, but recently bought a home in Ireland which was a soul destroying process.
Ive always celebrated my friends big wins, whether it be attending expensive weddings, gifting money beyond my means foe their events or sending cards and flowers when my friends have bought houses with their partners or had baby's.
This could just be me inherently, as I have simply always felt it to be good manners to show support to people close to me with a gift. It doesnt have to be expensive, even simply a card.
After purchasing a house, I didnt receive anything. No card, in some instances not even a text. Other friends who im very close with have even stayed over in my new place in times of need where I would cook and play the host. Still no card or 'thanks'...
Am I simply expecting too much? I dont want friendships to feel transactional so is it simply because its in my nature to 'give'... sometimes i cant help but feel im just not thought of enough to have someone send me a card.
