Quick question about food allergy. 59 female, multiple unrelated prescriptions. I'm allergic to potato in some circumstances

For years I thought I was allergic to redskin potatoes and avoided those along with those Heritage purple potatoes but I've eaten russets like baked potatoes and french fries and stuff. I just recently discovered that although it's rare the actual allergy is most likely to raw potato. Which would match with what I experienced, which was potato flour in a soup mix and general sensitivity to undercooked potatoes which were always red skin in that instance. Anyway!

This allergy gives me hives in my throat, I get an itchy throat and I can feel a bit of swelling although it's never been catastrophic. Is this something I should carry an allergy pen for or just Benadryl or what? I always just avoided it very carefully and haven't had a problem but somebody asked me why I don't care any medication with me.

What's the right thing to do and do I need a prescription for an allergy pen if that's what I need?
