Silhouettes of Gods?
So far, with maybe one exception, all the silhouettes I’ve been making have been of actual characters/creatures from this setting. Plenty of characters have had their true nature misunderstood or have become part of mythology, but I always try to draw them as they would have actual appeared. However I wanted to get people’s thoughts on silhouettes of purely mythical characters, such as gods from various religions.
I think the designs could be very fun since they would not necessarily tied to reality or the magic system. But I do think there are two possible downsides. One would be that in a lot of fictional settings there really are pantheons, so I think having a drawing of say a god might give people the impression that it is real rather than something invented by people within the setting. Another possible issue would be that some silhouettes being real beings in the world and others being in-universe myths might be confusing if people were to be looking at a bunch of silhouette posts.
Let me know if you have any thoughts on this topic!
