From skinny to jacked in under 3 years - here is what I learned
I went from 62kg to 74kg (175cm) in under 3 years, here is what I learned.
First of all let me tell you it's simple to do this but not easy. But 100% worth the effort.
#1 You have to find your "why"
This will sound clische, but stick with me. If you don'r really have strong reason to change your current situaton, you won't follow trought this trough months and years with consistency. It's not that easy to be able to half ass this. I you just kinda wanna get jacked, it's not gonna cut it. It's not strong enough reason. Let me tell you mine.
My reason was is that I felt basically invisible to females and not respected by guys. Basically felt like an avarage normal guy who have nothing to show for himself. And since I was ambitious I wanted to show it. I knew I want to avoid being average at all costs. And this is what made me decide to work on my looks and body. Because I know that how much looks matters in this world, however shallow this seems. It really does matter.
And later, when my fitness journey went on, first year, 1,5 years, and my progress was pretty good, I started to play with the idea of becoming a fitness coach or fitness infliuencer and inspire and help people achieve what I achieved. So right now my reason is not just getting jacked but its kinda my mission to become the greatest I can be and inspire and help people with the same. This helps me to keep going and keep learning.
#2 Don't overcompliace things
It's really easy to get confused my the amount of information and fitness advice put out to the internet. A lot of imformation seem to contracdict each other, a lot of different angles and methods. It is really so f*kin confusing. And you don't know who to trust and how to differentiate actually good informatiuon and BS.
So here is what you should focus on:
- Eat enough protein and total calories. You should see your weight go up every motnth at least 0,5-1kg. If it stagnates, you have to eat more.
- Go very close or to failure in your sets to stimulate the most muscle gowth.
- Focus on getting stronger at main compund lifts. For me it was weighted pull ups, weighted dips and bulgarian split squats. But it can be lat pulldown, bench press, and squat. Rest is just accessories and some isolation to balance out your physique. But the 80% here is the compounds 20% is the small isolations. Just pick a pushing and pulling movement you like and stick to it, always the same machine/movement and focus on nothing else just progress the overload. If you can see you are getting stronger week by week, you can be sure you are building muscle.
- Rest enough between the sessions. No point cooking yourslef. You should go fresh into all sessions to get the most out of it. In my journey I have been only training 3x a week on average. Rest is rest.:-)
#3 Keep going
I had a lot of points in my journey where it felt very very hard to keep going and don't let this go and just let it slide into mediocricity. It's so easy to just let go of your calories target or skip gym sessions, but you can't allow that to become a habit. Even if it's hard, life gets busy, you have to keep going on your journey, beacsue it's very important. You are not imagingin this. Chagning your physique can a 100% change your dating life, professional life and your daily interactions and your own self confidence. On top of that you can even build a career upon this as a PT or something like that and help people with this, if you end up going into this deeper. So yeah, keep chasing your dream. It's your dream for a reason. You got this.
