Why are most people upset about the dark pact and empower changes
So for those who don't know, dark pact and empower are being changed the way they work and most people seem extremely upset about it. Obviously I know that people use it to clear weaknesses and gain pips/blades so it had a dual utility but you can't do that anymore so people are upset.
It's clear that KI has been making an effort to standardize spells according to school identity and has been pvp banning spells that are broken.
While I wouldn't say empower and dark pact are broken as such, they are definitely doing more things that they are supposed to. The idea is, that for the cost of some health you gain additional blades/pips. The old version of these spells was overvalued in the sense that it was capable of clearing weaknesses for almost little to no self damage and gaining pips/blades. There was basically no drawback to using these cards. The new versions make more sense to me.
There's obviously other spells in the game that dont fit school identity. Eg. Feint. But changing those popular spells would lead to a LOT of backlash. I feel these spells are very rarely used in the pve community in comparison and yet there is a huge uproar when changes are made to them as if it's forcing players to play completely differently now.
Players just seem to get upset when their already broken stats are tuned down for the sake of some game balance but are also annoyed at stale pve gameplay lol. Besides, why are we pretending that they didn't recently add a triple weakness clear called purge which u can train for 1 training point.
