Best SUV for older parents - budget around $80k

My parents are at the retirement age, and currently have an Accord and a '13 ML350. The ML is starting to have some issues and they are looking for a replacement that will hopefully last many years.

Budget is around 80k (maybe 85k if features are really worth it), and at this point I lean towards the newest X5 x40i. They like the GLE as well but from researching online it seems you can get a decent discount with BMW, so any savings will be very helpful. For them, I obviously want to prioritize safety as well as comfort. Driving dynamics aren't too important alongside the tech, but it doesn't hurt as my mom does like driving (it will be mainly her's).

Located in central PA, and often do trips to NYC to visit me, but othewise it's mainly used in the suburbs to get around. They also prefer to buy new (not lease or buy preowned). I have had an X5 before, so I know what to expect. I think the luxurious feel of the GLE will make them happy, but I don't see them being discounted. Q7 seems a bit boring, but XC90 looks good too. RRS is a bit out of the budget.

I clearly have a German brand bias, so any comments or alternatives would be welcome.
