Heavy metal love song?

Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to find a song that sounds like it was done by a heavy metal band with a male singer with a big deep voice. The lyrics are about wishing you had had a relationship with someone instead of letting the connection slip away. The only lyric I can clearly remember is something like "You took my hand, I _________ " The song is pretty much a ballad. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks so much!
