How common is it for men to be very affectionate and caring during a hookup, even if they don’t want anything more?

I hooked up with someone while travelling. He was a local and we matched on tinder. He was a gentleman throughout the date and we got some food and drinks before heading to a secluded park. Things heated up there and we had sex. The overall date and sex was really great (we both voiced this out at the end so I'm sure). The entire time, he was very affectionate and respectful of my boundaries. After we were done, he kissed me all over my face and we stayed back a bit longer just cuddling and talking. He then walked me home and he asked if we could exchange socials. That night stuck with me because this was my first time hooking up and his behaviour felt more than just a casual one-night stand. But when I tried to keep the connection alive by texting him, he responded politely or reacted to my messages but didn't take the conversation further so I stopped pursuing it.

I think the affection and kindness caught me off guard because people are more reserved where I live and I haven't experienced that in a long time. I guess I'm just looking for a man's insight on this. Would you just think of it as a good one-time experience and move on? I understand that some people are just more affectionate and considerate, even with casual hookups. I'm just wondering how common this is.
