NJ

My children reminisce about how long it took to get anywhere and how it was all my fault. Gaslit them successfully for many years into thinking that as a child, time seems to stretch out forever and I would use the example of the last few minutes of class taking three days: up until about their age of thirteen they bought it hook line and sinker. Somehow the navigational assistant “rerouting” should have been their wake up call. In reality I get lost in thought, miss a turn, see something interesting, go around the block to check it out again maybe get out & take a photo of a gorgeous tree or interesting architectural element or cute puppy. My poor children before realizing that ignorance is bliss & would punch in the GPS directions on their phones and know that a trip home should take twenty minutes while we would be home in half an hour. They became the GPS vigilantes.

Grew up near Cincinnati, OH & love my five ways, knockwursts, low melt point chocolate chips in high fat content mint ice cream. Remember a late night expedition to the strangely distant grocery stores of population dense NJ (IMO: Northern New Jersey is a food dessert) having an out of body experience of seeing Grater’s ice cream in the freezer case. My brain shorted out for a solid minute lost in the time space continuum.

Last night after going to a birthday party of a dear friend in Nyack was in my usual space of wonderland turning left at Watchung & Broad where there has been a derelict EPA forced closed gas station right next door to Holsteins of final scene of the Sopranos fame. Noticed the whole corner was chock full of NYPD vehicles just like they park in the city, seemingly just fall where they may whether parked kitty-corner to traffic or on the sidewalk. Where - am - I?
