My motherboard just died

Hi fellow gamers, recently my motherboard got fried I don't exactly know the reason for it but what I'm trying to ask or discuss here is what can a person do to be cautious about these things like burnt mobo or psu.

Another thing: Recently as I shifted my pc to my ground floor where the whole connection is a bit messed up I guess as while the switch is still off all the bulbs in my room lights up a bit. Is this the reason my mobo got fried....?
