Do cavaliers get along with cats? Will they be ok sharing my lap?

Hii! I recently made a post asking what it’s like having a cavalier to try and figure out if they’re the right breed for me!

Everyone’s answers were so helpful and they really do sound perfect!!

I do have one more question for the people who actually own them here before I head to books to read about them! :)

So basically I have a 19 year old very delicate senior rag doll cat. She is the world to me and I would never want to stress her out. This was my biggest mistake when my family got a gsd as she doesn’t understand not to play rough with cats (she’s very gentle with dogs and people) so I have to keep them separate unless I’m holding my cat (I am training her out of this habit with my younger tougher cat, she’s doing well but I’m still extremely cautious)

My old cat is very kind and gentle, she gets along well with dogs and really any creature. But I’m wondering are cavaliers typically ok with cats? I wouldn’t be as worried since they’re so small. But I’d like to make sure!!

Will they be able to cuddle together on my lap? Or beside me? My cat would be so sad if she wasn’t able to cuddle with me as much, but I have enough cuddles for them both as long as they get along!

Does anyone have any stories on their puppies meeting their cats? And tips on how I can keep things going well?
